Planning for the third annual Hope for Homes benefit is underway for the Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro Habitat for Humanity. The date for the 2014 Gala has been set for January 25, 2014 and will be held in the Shenandoah Ballroom of the Stonewall Jackson Hotel in Staunton. The benefit will join community leaders, benefactors, sponsors and philanthropists in an evening to raise funds and awareness of the local Habitat for Humanity program.

As the Pelicans executed their relay, Salem manager Billy McMillon waved Stefan Welch home. The Sox third baseman was attempting to score from first base with one out. The relay throw was well placed, Welch slid in right as it arrived, and he was called out by home plate umpire Jorge Teran. The ump could have easily ruled in favor of either team; a replay would have been needed to determine the true correct call.

The Homecoming at Montgomery Hall Park will take place on Saturday, July 13 from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. with proceeds from the sale of food and beverages at this free event benefiting the African American Heritage Festival.
