The Lynchburg Hillcats walked off on the Carolina Mudcats, 7-6, in eleven innings in front of a record-high 5,840 fans at City Stadium on Friday night. It was the second time in three nights the Hillcats have won in walk-off fashion. Matt Weaver singled home David Rohm to score the winning run. Weaver had three RBI in the game. William Beckwith and Robby Hefflinger each contributed home runs in the win.

The Lynchburg Hillcats couldn’t match the bats of the Frederick Keys in Thursday’s rubber match, losing 11-7 at City Stadium. Robby Hefflinger hit his ninth home run of the season and Matt Lipka had three hits in the game, but it wasn’t enough. The Hillcats bullpen allowed eight runs on 13 hits in five innings of relief. The Hillcats defensive woes continued with a four-error night.

Down 4-1 after six innings, the Salem Red Sox finally figured out Carolina starter Jacob Lee in the seventh. Salem had mustered only two hits through six, but the Sox rallied for four runs on five hits in the pivotal top half of the seventh, surging to a 5-4 victory over the Mudcats on Wednesday night at Five County Stadium.
