My life is a tribute to the American Dream. My business partner and I started with 300 record albums and a $20 booth at the local farmers market. That was nearly 34 years ago. Altoona sweeps two from Richmond

For the second time on their current home stand, the Richmond Flying Squirrels (67-66) were swept in a doubleheader. The Altoona Curve (61-72) won game one, 3-2, and routed Richmond in game two, 13-1. The pair of losses for the Squirrels, coupled with a Harrisburg win over Erie, dropped the Squirrels to three games back in the wild-card race.

McAuliffe launches public safety platform

Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe on Thursday released his platform to strengthen public safety in the Commonwealth. McAuliffe’s plan, “Safer Communities, Safer Families,” includes cracking down on drunk driving, domestic violence, and other threats to Virginians, as well as fiscally responsible measures to support Virginia’s first responders and public safety officials.
