William & Mary football at #7 in national polls

Contributors

wm-logoThe William & Mary football team continued its steady climb in the national rankings as it moved up to No. 7 in both major Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) polls this week.

Both the Coaches Poll and STATS Poll are available at ncaa.com/rankings/football/fcs.

Although W&M briefly garnered a top-10 ranking last season, this week’s spot represents the highest W&M has ascended in national polls since 2011.

Having won its last five games, W&M currently owns a 7-2 record overall and is tied for first in the Colonial Athletic Association with a 5-1 mark.

With a victory against Towson this Saturday, the Tribe would likely secure a NCAA Playoff bid. Additionally, it would set up an opportunity to claim the CAA title when it squares off at Richmond on Nov. 21.

W&M is averaging 38.0 points per game during its recent five-game winning streak, while the defense is allowing just 17.9 points per game – a figure that ranks 15th nationally.

The Tribe will look to wrap up an undefeated regular-season home slate when it hosts Towson for Senior Day on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at TribeAthletics.com or by calling the ticket office at 757-221-3340.
