Will Hammer confirmed for Sixth District ballot

Contributors

Will Hammer was confirmed on the sixth district congressional ballot by the Virginia State Board of Elections last week.

HAMMER1liteHammer, the Libertarian candidate running against incumbent Bob Goodlatte, turned in additional supplemental signatures Tuesday in Richmond before the filing deadline, along with the 10 other Libertarian Congressional candidates and Robert Sarvis, Libertarian Senate candidate.

Ballot access in Virginia is notoriously stringent, especially for third party candidates. Hammer had to get 1,000 confirmed signatures of qualified voters in the 6th Congressional district by 6/10/14, 7pm EST. In all, Hammer turned in over 1,500.

“I am very excited to get confirmed and look forward to challenging Goodlatte,” Hammer said. “This was only possible through the hard work and support of my family, friends, and volunteers.”

Hammer hopes to defeat Goodlatte this November, who is seeking his 12th term. Hammer believes that voters want real change: “Voters are looking for alternatives to the establishment candidates, as can be seen by yesterday’s primary. I provide that option, I will fight the two party system that has long been broken.” Hammer added, ” The only special interest I have is for the people and their liberties. I want to work with people and make coalitions to advance issues that are affecting Americans.”

Hammer is the only confirmed opponent of Goodlatte this November, as the Democrats did not nominate a candidate.
