Papelbon earned his second save as a Nat and his 19th of the season overall, giving up an unearned run in the ninth.

Drew Storen (2-0, 1.56 ERA) got the win, pitching a scoreless eighth in advance of the Ramos game-winning hit.

Starter Max Scherzer got a no-decision, going six innings, giving up three runs on four hits, striking out nine and walking three.

Yunel Escobar hit his seventh homer of the season, a solo shot leading off the bottom of the first.

The win snaps a four-game losing streak for Washington (55-50), which remains a game back of the New York Mets (57-50) in the National League East.

The Mets won at Miami on Tuesday night by a 5-1 final.
