Virginia State Police recover 36 firearms, seize $2.7M in narcotics in weeklong operation

Virginia State Police and local agencies led a weeklong operation that cracked down on criminal activity in the Commonwealth including the seizure of firearms and narcotics.

From Jan. 31 to Feb. 7, the operation included 179 active investigations, according to VSP.

Here’s the rundown for operations from Jan. 31 to Feb. 7:

  • Firearms recovery: A total of 36 firearms were recovered valued at $25,000.
  • Narcotics seizures: 260 pounds along with 1,000 controlled substance pills with a value of $2,777,811.83.
    • Cocaine: 19.75 pounds
    • Crack cocaine: 1.25 ounces
    • Marijuana: 235.60 pounds
    • Heroin: 0.53 ounces
    • Fentanyl pills: 1,000
  • Gaming enforcement: 20 gaming-related tips received
  • Human trafficking investigations: 67 new human trafficking tips received

A Virginia man was arrested Feb. 10 on human trafficking charges for operations in the Roanoke Valley and Rockbridge County.

In Roanoke, special agents and officers also seized approximately eight kilograms of suspected cocaine along with two kilograms of suspected fentanyl on Feb. 11.
