
A Manassas man is in custody after initially fleeing on foot from the Blue Ridge Narcotics and Gang Task Force on Wednesday when he was stopped for a traffic violation.
Howard B. Jenkins, 43, had been the subject of a lengthy investigation which has now come to an end with his arrest.
Jenkins has been charged with two felony counts of possession with intent to distribute I/II narcotics, one misdemeanor count of fleeing from law enforcement and a traffic offense for failing to display a license plate.
According to police, the Culpeper Sheriff’s Office and task force officers conducted a traffic stop on Jan. 29 on his Chevrolet Tahoe on Route 3 near Yellow Bottom Road in Culpeper County.
Jenkins was stopped for failing to display a license plate.
During the traffic stop, Jenkins attempted to flee the scene on foot but was quickly apprehended and taken into custody without further incident.
Officers located and seized 400 grams of cocaine with a street value of $40,000. Officers also recovered 9.2 grams of fentanyl and $980 in U.S. currency from the Chevrolet.
Jenkins was transported to the Culpeper County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
The Blue Ridge Narcotics and Gang Task Force is composed of law enforcement personnel from the Culpeper, Fauquier, Orange, Madison, Rappahannock, Warrenton and Orange and the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Culpeper field office.
