A Gloucester-based adult residential group home has paid $2 million to settle fraud claims that it overbilled Medicaid for nursing services.
Sola Inc. paid the fine and restitution to the United States and Commonwealth of Virginia.
The parties in the suit alleged that Sola overbilled Medicaid $641,396 for nursing services that were impossible to perform, because the amount of time billed to the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services exceeded the corresponding number of hours worked by the nurses employed by Sola, as reported on the nurses’ time sheets.
The company seems to offer group homes with services for adults with developmental disabilities that includes primary care, room, board and general supervision.
The resolution obtained in this matter were the result of efforts between the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia and the Medicaid fraud control unit of the Virginia Attorney General’s Office.
