A Staunton pitcher and Waynesboro infielder were among the players honored by the Valley League for their performances last week.

Braves righthander Donald Howell was named one of the league’s two pitchers of the week after dominating in three relief appearances – striking out 12 batters in seven and two-thirds innings and giving up only five hits. Howell, who plays his college ball at Bluefield, has struck out 18 and not allowed an earned run in 11 innings pitched this season.

Front Royal righthander Tucker Pryor (North Florida) was honored after striking out 26 hitters in 16 and a third innings against Woodstock and Staunton last week.

Waynesboro second baseman Brandon Sizemore (Charleston) was one of the two league players of the week after hitting .455 in his first week back in the Valley with two homers, five runs batted in and three runs scored.

Also feted was Woodstock second baseman Brad Roberts (Florida Gulf Coast), who hit .538 in three games last week.
