
Fuller (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) was a 2013 AVCA All-East Coast Region honorable mention and was named to the All-ACC Second Team after her first year with the Cavaliers. The setter recorded 1,455 assists, the seventh-most in Cavalier single-season history, and averaged 11.37 assists per set, the second-most in the ACC.
Burton (West Hills, Calif.) was named the 2013 ACC Freshman of the Year after earning 380 kills on a .259 hitting percentage. Both marks rank fifth on UVa’s freshman lists. The All-ACC Third Team member notched double-digit kills in 22 matches, including three 20-kill matches.
The Cavaliers return five starters from last season’s squad that finished 18-14 overall and 11-9 in ACC play after recording a 9-22 overall record and 3-17 mark in conference play in 2012.
Florida State was picked as the preseason No. 1 with seven first-place votes, while Duke and North Carolina each picked up four first-place votes each. Miami was selected fourth, while ACC newcomer Louisville was fifth.
Virginia opens the 2014 campaign with a tournament at Marshall in Huntington, W.Va., Aug. 29-30. UVa’s first match of the season is against Illinois-Chicago on Aug. 29 at 7:30 p.m. The Cavaliers’ first home match is Sept. 5 vs. LIU Brooklyn at 7 p.m.
