Traffic stop leads to two arrests in Waynesboro

waynesboroThe Waynesboro Police Department made two arrests from a Thursday traffic stop.

Officers were contacted by an anonymous caller who advised they had observed 31-year-old Waynesboro resident Brandon Lamont Carter driving a vehicle in the 900 block of Hopeman Parkway, and police were aware there was an active warrant for his arrest.

Officers performed a traffic stop on the vehicle that Carter was driving and arrested him for a warrant that had been issued for misdemeanor assault and battery.

During the arrest of Carter, officers recognized 29-year-old Chiejio Ja’meze Davis in the passenger seat of the stopped vehicle. Davis was wanted on several outstanding warrants unrelated to Carter’s charge which included:

  • Felony Domestic Assault from Staunton (VA Code: 18.2-57.2)
  • Felony Domestic Assault (X2) from Waynesboro (VA Code: 18.2-57.2)
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon from Waynesboro (VA Code: 18.2-308.2)
  • Abduction and Kidnapping from Waynesboro (VA Code: 18.2-47)
  • Use of a Firearm While Committing Abduction from Waynesboro (VA Code: 18.2-53.1)
  • Brandishing a Firearm/Misdemeanor from Waynesboro (VA Code: 18.2-282)
  • Destruction of Property/Misdemeanor from Waynesboro (VA Code: 18.2-137)

During the arrest of Davis, officers recovered a stolen Glock Model 23 pistol with two loaded magazines and a small container of suspected controlled substances.  After the discovery by officers, Davis was charged with four additional felonies which include:

  • Possession of Stolen Firearm from Waynesboro (VA Code: 18.2-108.1)
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon from Waynesboro (VA Code: 18.2-308.2)
  • Possession of a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance from Waynesboro (VA Code: 18.2-250)
  • Possession of a Firearm While in Possession of a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance from Waynesboro (VA Code: 18.2-308.4)

Carter was held on a $2,500 secured bond.

Davis was held without bond.

Both subjects are currently being held at the Middle River Regional Jail.
