Three arrests in separate incidents in Waynesboro on busy weekend

The Waynesboro Police Department has made a few recent arrests that are notable.

• Shawn Douglas Oliver, 31 years old, of Waynesboro faces two felony charges after a burglary was reported at local woodworking business.  On November 20, officers responded to 1010 East Main Street for a report of several hundred dollars’ worth of property that had been taken sometime overnight.  Among the items stolen were power tools, batteries and hand tools.  During the course of the investigation, officers identified Oliver who lives close to the business as a possible suspect.  On November 25, detectives served a search warrant at this residence, 115 Richardson Avenue, and found most of the stolen property.  Oliver was arrested at the same time for Breaking & Entering and Grand Larceny.  He is being held at Middle River Regional Jail on a $3,000.00 bond.

• Jose Antonio Rivas, 57 years old, of Waynesboro faces a felony charge of aggravated sexual battery on allegations that he molested a 5-yearold girl on November 26.  On that date, officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of C Street to investigate a possible sexual assault of a child.  The child’s grandmother left her at the residence with Rivas and his wife, who are family acquaintances, so she could go grocery shopping.  The molestation happened sometime during shopping trip and was immediately reported.  Rivas is being held without bond at MRRJ.

• Robert Lee Maybush Jr., 23 years old, of no fixed address, but formerly a Waynesboro resident, was arrested after being a fugitive for nearly two years.  In November 2012, the Waynesboro Circuit Court issued a capias for his arrest since he failed to appear for a probation violations hearing.  Maybush, who holds a conviction in 2009 for felony gang articipation, had been on the Police Department’s “Wanted Ten” list since the capias was issued.  On November 28 at approximately 11:00 p.m., an officer found Maybush when he fled out of the passenger’s door of a vehicle the officer had stopped on Bridge Avenue.  After a short foot chase, the officer was able to deploy his Taser effectively which incapacitated Maybush.  He was arrested without any further incident.  Maybush is being held without bond at MRRJ.
