Staunton’s Food Day festivities

staunton2editsMary Baldwin College, the Staunton Creative Community Fund and Valley Conservation Council are joining forces to co-host Staunton’s Food Day Festivities on Thursday from 4-7 pm at Mary Baldwin’s Hunt Dining Hall.

The event highlights how local food and local farms are powerful economic and environmental engines with untold benefits to the community. We’ll honor the recipients of the ACRES Grant Program, a joint effort between SCCF and VCC providing mini-grants to small farms and local foods businesses who are leaders in conservation and watershed protection. The event features a Mini-Farmers-Market, a beer garden serving local beer and wine, live music, all followed by an amazing meal of locally grown food prepared by MBC’s Dining Services team. During the meal, hear from our farmer’s about why they love what they do and get the story behind the food on your plate.

The Mini-Market is free (we recommend bringing some cash in case you’d like to purchase something) the beer garden is a cash bar, and the meal is only $8. Advance tickets are available for purchase at Bookworks, and tickets are available at the door on the 23rd. Save your ticket stub and bring it downtown the following day on Friday, October 24th, to receive special deals at local favorites like Baja Bean, By & By, Cranberries, The Split Banana, and the Store.
