The FBI and Virginia State Police are investigating a “sophisticated cyberattack” that hit the offices of Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares on Wednesday, which you have to wonder might be an act of resistance to the Trump/Musk excesses, which Miyares has publicly supported.

The Washington Post reported on the issue last night, detailing that OAG officials first detected the attack at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, leading to a decision to quickly shut down the office’s computer systems, which forced the office to work offline all day Wednesday.

The Post report noted that there was no identified demand for money associated with the attack, and that no other state agencies appear to have been targeted.

Miyares has been active in the early days of Trump 2.0, most recently joining an effort of 19 Republican state AGs to try to tell Costco to end its DEI programs that is imploring the private-sector company to “do the right thing.”

The AG, who is facing re-election in November, also made news two weeks ago with letters to UVA Health and VCU Health telling them to stop providing gender-affirming healthcare to trans minors, to end what Miyares termed the “chemical and surgical mutilation of children.”
