Tom Perriello continues to widen his lead in the Fifth Congressional District fund-raising race.

The Democrat outraised Republican incumbent Virgil Goode for the third straight fund-raising quarter, according to reports filed by the two campaigns with the Federal Election Commission.

Perriello raised more than $340,000 in the first quarter of 2008, more than Goode raised in calendar-year 2007 combined.

The Perriello campaign has raised more than $600,000 to date, and had more than $500,000 on hand as of the filing date.

“People from every corner of the Fifth district are responding to our focus on right and wrong instead of right and left. People clearly want new leaders who care more about fixing problems than finding someone to blame for them. We need jobs for Southside, healthcare for all, and a sustainable solution in Iraq,” Perriello said.
