State Sen. Louise Lucas doesn’t have Glenn Youngkin to emasculate anymore, so, watch out, Tim Kaine, Mark Warner.
“I have the utmost respect for Senator Kaine and Senator Warner,” Lucas posted to Bluesky on Friday, after the State Senate had voted to put a referendum on the ballot in the spring to redraw the state’s congressional boundaries ahead of the 2026 midterms.
You can sense the but that is coming.
And, oh, is it coming.
“But we do not need ‘coaching’ on redistricting coming from a cuck chair in the corner,” Lucas wrote, hitting Warner in the fire aimed at Kaine, who is the one of our two Democrats in the U.S. Senate publicly questioning the redistricting push, in a podcast interview earlier this week.
Warner, as far as I can tell, is supportive of what Democrats in the General Assembly are doing.
More on that in a minute.

“How about you all stay focused on the fascist in the White House and let us handle redistricting in Virginia. 10-1,” Lucas concluded her post – the “10-1” being a reference to the plan to redraw the lines to give Democrats the advantage in 10 of the 11 congressional races in Virginia in the fall.
Kaine, in an interview with Punchbowl News, admitted to having some discomfort with a 10-1 map, saying he preferred a 9-2 map, saying a 9-2 map looks more “logical,” whatever that means.
Senate Majority Leader Scott Surovell was a tad bit more civil in his rebuke of the senator, saying gently that “the drawing of congressional districts is our job.”
“Under the Constitution, that’s assigned to the state legislature. It’s our job and our decision. And we will listen to their opinions,” Surovell said, referring to Kaine, and Warner, if he were to offer a countervailing opinion, “but the opinions that count, the votes that count, are ours.”
I like “cuck chair in the corner” better, but that’s just me.
To Lucas’ point, I’ve been trying to find something from Warner where he might seem to agree with Kaine on the matter, but I’m not.
Warner’s most detailed public statement on this dates back to a post-2025 state election press avail.
“Let’s not pretend that this was somehow popped into the political debate out of thin air. This popped into the political debate because Donald Trump knew his policies were sticking it to Americans, and they’re trying to cook the books for the 2026 election,” Warner said in November.
“If Texas and these other states would back off, I think there would be no support in Virginia for redistricting,” Warner said. “They’ve already taken that first step, and we’ll see how it plays through the legislature and with the new governor. But again, I just remind people in Virginia, voters will have a chance and have a say on whether they want this to happen or not.”
Doesn’t sound like Warner is in the “cuck chair in the corner” with Kaine from that.
