Local Jurisdictions Support VPAS Services

Chris Graham

vpasheader0311Valley Program for Aging Services is pleased to receive financial contributions from the local jurisdictions to support our services to individuals in the Staunton, Augusta, Waynesboro (SAW) Region.

Each local government recently approved a budget for their upcoming July 1, 2014 – June 30, 2015 fiscal year which includes funding for VPAS.   Staunton approved funding for VPAS in the amount of $22,551 with $6,000 of that specifically for the Staunton Senior Center.   This is a decrease of $2,099 from their previous funding level.

Augusta County approved $20,202, an increase of $4,798 from funding in previous years to start bringing their contribution more in line with the level of VPAS services in the County.

Waynesboro provided level funding of $25,250, with $13,000 allocated to the Transportation for Elderly and Disabled (TED) program and $12,250 allocated to Virginia Insurance Counseling and Assistance Program (VICAP) services.   Waynesboro also provides the building used for the Waynesboro Senior Center and VPAS offices as an in-kind donation.
