Downtown Waynesboro rings to the laughter of children and their family on the third Friday of the month. This month there will be even more reasons for expressions of joy. Kids Avenue will expand its offerings to include entertainment, coloring contest, special treats, and ongoing crafts.
The event opens at 5 p.m. with Yoga for Kids at Natural Beauty Studio at 414 W. Main St.
Starting at 5:30 p.m., ongoing activities for children will be available at various locations on Wayne Avenue. Short and Sweet will have “Decorate Your Cookie.” Chefy’s Choice Family Grill will give children the opportunity to “Make Your Own Sundae” as well as a drawing for a free caricature. And the Shenandoah Valley Art Center will provide chalk and sidewalks for young artists to express their talents.
At 5:45pm, Stone Soup Books and Café will present Becky Mushko, local children’s writer. She will read from her book Ferrandiddledumday and sign copies of the book at Kids and Sew On at 141 N. Wayne Ave.
The Wayne Theatre Alliance’s program will include two entertainers during the May Kids Avenue. Storyteller Ian Henry will charm his audience, both young and old with a new set of stories at the Shenandoah Valley Art Center at 6:30 p.m. The Center is located at 126 S. Wayne Ave. Dave the Juggler will delight children and adults with his skills as a juggler and balloon sculptor at the Waynesboro Heritage Museum at 7:15 pm. The Museum is located at the corner of Wayne and Main.
Thanks to a grant from the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge, admission to the WTA events are free as are the activities by the local merchants.
