
Erie opened up the ninth with a one out walk to Jeff McVaney from Mizenko (4-2). McVaney stole second base and came around to score on the game-winner from Krizan. It was the first run allowed by Mizenko since July 1st at Harrisburg.The Squirrels rallied back from an early 4-0 deficit through the middle innings. Richmond cut the lead in half, 4-2 with a pair of run scoring base hits to left field. With two runners on, Enel Beltre extended his hitting streak to 16 games with a single. Rando Moreno followed with a base hit to the same location to score Jackson Williams. Ricky Oropesa then smashed a solo home run an inning later to trim the Erie lead to 4-3. It was the 12th home run of the year for Oropesa and his second in as many nights.
Devin Harris eventually tied the game, 4-4 off Erie reliever Montreal Robertson with a double in the seventh inning. Austin Slater and Mitch Delfino both single with one out to set up Harris. Richmond pounded out 13 hits in the loss including three from Delfino. Robertson earned the win by pitching the final three innings for the SeaWolves.
The SeaWolves took a 1-0 lead in the first off starting pitcher Joe Biagini. Wynton Bernard singled and was promptly thrown out attempting to steal second. Erie Right fielder Jeff McVaney then doubled and moved to third on a wild pitch. Jason Krizan brought home McVaney with a chopper to second baseman Austin Slater.
Erie made it a 3-0 game with a pair of runs in the third. With two outs, Wynton Bernard tripled and Jeff McVaney worked a walk. Jason Krizan then sent a double to the gap in right centerfield for the SeaWolves largest lead of the series. James Robbins launched a solo homer in the fourth for a 4-0 Erie advantage
Biagini hurled six innings and allowed four runs on eight hits in the no decision. He struck out four and walked two on 98 pitches. Erie starter Tommy Collier also received no decision with six innings of work. He allowed three runs on eight hits with six strikeouts.
The Squirrels continue the road trip in Erie on Sunday against the SeaWolves. Richmond RHP Tyler Beede (2-3, 3.95) will start for the Squirrels against Erie RHP Austin Kubitza (5-9, 6.06).
