The campaign for the United States of America‘s Democratic presidential nominee continues to break fundraising records for American politics and history.

Individual donors contributed more than $59 million to Vice President Kamala Harris‘s campaign in the last week of July after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race against former President Donald Trump. Of that amount, $12.5 million, or 20 percent, was donated by Californians, Harris’s home state, as reported by Business Insider.

The largest employer of donors was Google and parent company Alphabet. The technology world is donated quite a bit despite a shift to the right side in Silicon Valley. The second and third top tech employers of donors was Apple and Meta, who contributed $170,000 and $81,000, respectively.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that in the month of July 2024, Harris raised $310 million compared to Trump and allies raising $138 million.

When Harris ran to be the Democratic nominee in 2019, 10,000 residents of California donated to her campaign, according to an analysis by Politico.

More individuals donated to Harris’s campaign in the first 10 days than all of Biden’s 15-month reelection bid.

During the Democratic National Convention last week, Harris’s campaign for president raised $82 million, bringing the grand total of her campaign so far to $540 million. The best fundraising hour for her campaign came in the hour after her convention speech last Thursday night with one-third of donors being first-time donors. Two-third of the first-time donors, according to the MJS, were women. The most popular occupations were teachers and nurses.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
