The Augusta Regional Dental Clinic announced this week that Emily Harding, D.M.D., will join the clinic as a full-time staff dentist on March 22.
Dr. Harding is a graduate of the University of Louisville Dental School, where she received her doctorate of dental medicine in general dentistry. She has spent extensive time working in dental clinics in both eastern and western Kentucky, providing a multitude of dental services to less fortunate individuals. Most recently, Dr. Harding was an associate dentist in the Louisville area.
“We are pleased that Dr. Harding is joining our dental team,” said Margaret Hersh, executive director of the Augusta Regional Dental Clinic. “Her experience working with the disadvantaged population in Louisville will benefit ARDC as we persist in our mission to improve the oral health of low-income families in Staunton, Waynesboro and Augusta County.”
The addition of another full-time dentist is essential as construction continues on a new 5,000 square-foot dental facility. The enhanced space will enable ARDC to increase the number of patients served and better meet their needs. The new facility, including state-of-the-art equipment and eight treatment rooms, is expected to be complete by June 2011. The project is being funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 through a loan and grant from the United States Department of Agriculture, funding appropriated by Senators Mark Warner and Jim Webb to create jobs and improve needed infrastructure in rural communities across the state. Additional grants were received from organizations, including the Virginia Health Care Foundation.
The Augusta Regional Dental Clinic is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The mission of the ARDC is to provide dental related services to children enrolled in Medicaid “Smiles for Children Program” and adults and their families (of Staunton, Waynesboro and Augusta County), who are income qualified, but who do not have the means to pay the full cost of these services.
