Culpeper District Roads Report: Aug. 25-29

road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled; weather permitting, in the Culpeper VDOT District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. Items in italics contain new or updated information.

Albemarle County

Route 29 (Monacan Trail) – Pipe replacement one mile south of Interstate 64.  One lane closed on Route 29 southbound. Motorists should reduce speed and follow traffic controls.

Routes 600, 602, 610, 612, 621, 626, 630, 635, 637, 715, 717, 719, 721, 722, 723, 746, 769, 784, 800, 802, 807, 816, 1421, 1422, 1445, 1448, 1493 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 600, 640, 641, 697, 700, 722, 766, 784 – Machining and grading gravel roads. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment working in the roadway; brief delays possible.

Routes 608, 615, 640, 665, 1547, 1554 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Routes 674 (Clark Road) – Slope repairs. Road closed Aug. 25-28 two miles east of Route 810 (Browns Gap Turnpike). Motorists should use posted detour route.

Route 688 (Midway Road) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing projectFlagging will occur; expect brief delays.

Route 708 (Dry Bridge Road) – Bridge replacement. Road closed with traffic detoured via Route 787 (Gillums Ridge Road). Anticipated completion September 2014.

 

City of Charlottesville

Copeley Road, University of Virginia – Epoxy overlay on bridge over CSX/Buckingham Branch Railroad. Work will occur overnight, 7 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls.

 

Culpeper County

Route 15/29 (James Madison Highway) – Paving, line painting and placement of shoulder stone from just north of Route 663 (Stevensburg Road) to the Fauquier County line. Night work will occur Sunday night; additional work will occur MondayWednesday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Route 15/29 (James Madison Highway) – Bridge deck washing on the structure at the Fauquier County line overnight Monday, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Flagging will occur; expect brief delays.

Routes 15, 15 Business, 211, 229, 299, 522 – Line painting. Work will be done utilizing a mobile work zone. Motorists should use caution around slow-moving vehicles and pass only when conditions are safe.

Routes 522, 647, 651, 729 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 625, 663 – Machining and grading gravel roads. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment working in the roadway; brief delays possible.

Route 752 (Camp Road) – Surface treatment from dead end to Route 645 (Kirtley Trail). Flagging will occur with pilot vehicle. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Route 715 (Duncan Trail) – Surface treatment from Route 644 (Reva Road) to Route 608 (Oakland Road). Flagging will occur with pilot vehicle. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Routes 229, 522, 625, 629, 630, 646, 662, 663, 713, 714, 730 – Shoulder repair and roadside ditching. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 610, 650, 658 – Pipe replacements. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Route 716 (Mountain Prospect Lane) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. Flagging will occur Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should expect brief delays.

 

Town of Culpeper

Route 15/29 Business (Madison Highway) – Construction of roundabout at Route 229 (Main Street). Roadway will be limited to one lane of traffic in both directions.

Route 229 (Main Street) – Construction of roundabout at Route 15/29 Business (Madison Highway). A new traffic pattern is in effect. Lane closures will occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. MondayThursday and 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday. Motorists should expect minor delays, reduce speed and follow traffic controls.

 

Fauquier County

Interstate 66 westbound – Milling, paving and striping from mile marker 34.1 to Route 55 (E. Main Street) bridge.  Alternating lane closures will occur SundayWednesday overnight, 9 p.m. to noon. Additional work will occur Tuesday and Thursday during daytime hours. Be alert for changes to the traffic pattern and expect brief delays.

Interstate 66 westbound – Underdrain work from Route 17 (Winchester Road) bridge to Route 245 (Old Tavern Road) ramps.Alternating lane closures will occur 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday. Be alert for changes to the traffic pattern and expect brief delays.

Routes 17, 29 – Line painting. Work will be done utilizing a mobile work zone. Motorists should use caution around slow-moving vehicles and pass only when conditions are safe.

Routes 17, 29, 55, 245, 626, 635, 651, 681, 685, 688, 689, 690, 691, 721, 724, 732, 736, 737, 779, 798, 802, 900 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 211 (Lee Highway) – Bridge deck washing on bridge between Route 229 and Route 688 overnight Sunday, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Flagging will occur; expect brief delays.

Routes 602, 763 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Route 651 (Sumerduck Road) – Replacement of bridge over Sumerduck Run. Road closed with traffic detoured using Route 17 (Marsh Road) to Route 634 (Courtneys Corner Road) and back to Route 651. Expected completion April 2015.

Routes 676, 1045 – Pipe replacements. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 714, 717, 719, 774, 780 – Machining and grading gravel roads. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment working in the roadway; brief delays possible.

Routes 1045, 1049, 1050 – Repairs to roadway shoulders and ditching. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area.

Route 606 (Hells Bend Road) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. Flagging will occur Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should expect brief delays.

 

Greene County

Surface treatment on the following roads between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Motorists should anticipate minor delays. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and pilot trucks.

  • Route 634 from Route 810 to Route 635
  • Route 637 from Route 230 to Route 621

Routes 603, 605, 612, 628, 648 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Routes 607, 609, 610, 618, 618, 645 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 614, 626, 629, 630, 632, 634, 672 – Machining, grading and application of dust control on gravel roads. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment working in the roadway; brief delays possible.

 

Louisa County

Interstate 64 – Bridge painting. Alternating lane closures in both directions at mile marker 136 operations all week as follows:

  • August 25 – from 7p.m. – 9 a.m.
  • August 26 – from 7 p.m. – 9 a.m.
  • August 27 – from 7 p.m. – 6 a.m.
  • August 28 – from 7 p.m. – 6 a.m.
  • August 29 – from 7 p.m. – 6 a.m.
  • August 30 – from 7 p.m. – 9 a.m.

Routes 613, 678, 693, 773 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Route 618 (Belsches Road) – Roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

 

Madison County

Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Pipe replacement at Route 612 (James City Road). Southbound lanes closed overnight Thursday, 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. Motorists will be detoured using Route 631 (Kirtley Road).

Route 231 (FT Valley Road) – Tree trimming from Rappahannock County line moving southbound to Madison town limits. Flagging will occur. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Delays of 5-10 minutes are possible.

Route 600 (Weakley Hollow Road) – Surface treatment from Route 643 (Etlan Road) to end of state maintenance. Flagging will occur with pilot vehicle. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Route 626 (Oneals Road) – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Route 642 (Lindsay Lane/Poor House Road) – Surface treatment from end of pavement to Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike). Flagging will occur with pilot vehicle. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Route 665 (Garth Run Road) – Surface treatment from end of state maintenance to Route 718 (Wallace Gap Lane). Flagging will occur with pilot vehicle. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Route 9731 (Madison County High School entrance) – Milling, paving, striping and installation of shoulder stone. Flagging will occur daily 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Route 29 (Seminole Trail) to Route 687 (Fairground Road).

 

Orange County

Routes 15, 20, 211, 651 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 615, 662 – Repairs to roadway shoulders and roadside ditches. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

Route 522 (River Road) – Pipe replacement. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Route 1006 (High Street), Gordonsville – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

 

Rappahannock County

Routes 616, 618, 649 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 621(Hunters Road) – Surface treatment from end of pavement to Route 626 (Tiger Valley Road). Flagging will occur with pilot vehicle. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Route 626 (Tiger Valley Road) – Replacement of bridge over the Rush River. Road closed Aug. 7 through Sept. 18.Motorists should use the posted detour route: Route 211 (Lee Highway) to Route 622 (Rock Mills Road) to Route 621 (Hunters Road) and back to Route 626.
