Crash kills Waynesboro man on Christmas night

policecar3Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Christmas Day in Augusta County. The crash occurred at 11:15 p.m. on Dec. 25 at the intersection of Routes 340 and 631 just south of Waynesboro.

A 1997 Mercury Mountaineer was traveling along Route 340 when it ran off the right side of the road and struck a pole. The driver, Clarence C. Gregory Jr., 61, of Waynesboro, died at the scene.

Gregory was not wearing a seat belt. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, which still remains under investigation at this time by Trooper D.C. Brydge.
