Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan‘s Youth Advisory Council is a platform for high schools students in Virginia’s Fourth District to engage with the Congresswoman and her congressional staff through monthly meetings.

“Students are the lifeblood of our nation and its democracy, and they need a space to learn and let their voices be heard at the federal level of government. My Youth Advisory Council Program provides just that: a platform to demystify our political processes for students and empower them to share their perspectives. I’m excited to get to know these students throughout the next school year,” McClellan said of the launch of her Youth Advisory Council for the 2025-2026 school year.

The Youth Advisory Council is open to all high school students who live in or attend high school in Virginia’s Fourth Congressional District. The council will meet monthly with members of McClellan’s Washington, D.C. and district staff to learn more about the legislative body, constituent casework and district outreach. The students will also work on a project that they will share with the Congresswoman and discuss what they have learned.

Eligible high school students can submit their applications until 11:59 p.m. on September 19, 2025. The Council will be held from October 2025 to May 2026.

Additional information, including application requirements, program overview and upcoming deadlines are available on the Congresswoman’s website.
