Breaking bad: Waynesboro Police break up downtown meth ring

The Waynesboro Police Department arrested two men Saturday night after a drug raid at a commercial building/residence in the 400 block of West Main Street.

Howe Donald Truslow, 53 years old of Waynesboro, and David Ray Brown, 54 years old of Buckingham, both face felony drug charges stemming from the raid that was the culmination of a year’s long narcotics investigation by the Department’s Special Operations Division.

At approximately 9:40 p.m. Saturday, officers with the Special Operations Division and Patrol Division, who were armed with a search warrant, raided Truslow’s address at 411 West Main Street.  Once inside the building, officers encountered six men, including Brown and Truslow, and evidence of methamphetamine distribution including digital scales, baggies, cash and narcotics.  Truslow had also employed the use of two guard dogs and a surveillance system.  One police officer was treated for a laceration to his hand resulting from the raid.

Officers charged Truslow with Possession of Methamphetamine with the Intent to Distribute; Brown was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine.  Both men are being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail. Suspected drugs were found on several of the other men present.  They have been sent off to the state lab for analysis, therefore, more charges are expected.

The Department had received numerous complaints on Truslow, who has several drug convictions, and launched a narcotics investigation about a year ago. The drug raid and the subsequent arrests of Truslow and Brown were a surgical strike at drug distribution in downtown Waynesboro, which has undergone a revitalization in the past several years.  The Police Department will not tolerate the existence of a drug selling operation and flop house for drug users anyplace in Waynesboro, especially in the heart of the city.
