Augusta County gunshot victim flown to UVA; police on the hunt for suspect

police augusta county sheriff deputy arrest A man was shot in the face in Augusta County tonight after an alleged road rage incident between two drivers.

The adult victim, whose identity has not been released, was flown from Riverheads Elementary School to UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville for treatment. His condition is currently unknown.

Deputies from the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene in the 3500 block of Lee Jackson Highway at 7:49 p.m. The address for the shooting is in the area of the Pilot Truck Stop in Greenville.

The ACSO is seeking the public’s assistance locating the suspect, who is believed to be in a dark-colored truck, possibly a diesel.

Deputies are currently canvassing Lee Jackson Highway for a vehicle matching the description or suspect.

“This is an ongoing investigation that appears to be an isolated incident; there is no current threat to our community,” said Augusta County Sheriff Donald L. Smith.
