Westwood Hills Elementary School will not reopen on Wednesday, as school system officials work through determining a timeline for the school’s reopening, after a shooting at the school last week.

Waynesboro Public Schools said in a post to Facebook today that the school system is “not yet ready” to announce a return date for students and teachers in the wake of the Sept. 2 shooting, in which a former Westwood Hills student, Anthony Ignatiadis-Isabelle, 19, shot his way into the school through a locked door, attempted to gain entry into several classrooms, shot a staff member, then turned his 20-gauge shotgun on himself.

The school system, in the Facebook post, advised parents to check the school website and their email for an update on the return to school for Westwood Hills students.
