Arlington County Police are making a push for information on the Jan. 17, 2020, murder of Scott Ratigan, a 24-year-old who was found dead in his apartment five years ago today.

“The passage of time does not diminish the need for answers and accountability in this senseless act of violence that took Scott’s life,” the PD said in a news release sent out to media outlets on Friday, in an effort to refocus public attention on the case.

Police are looking for a person of interest seen leaving the area around the time of Ratigan’s murder, whose distinguishing feature, according to surveillance video from the scene, is a pigeon-toed gait.

The individual is described as a white male, approximately 5’6″ to 5’8″ tall, weighing 150-175 pounds.

According to police, Ratigan had suffered trauma to his upper body and pronounced deceased on scene by medics, and evidence recovered at the scene indicates an attempt from the perp or perps to clean the crime scene.

Watch

“Detectives continue to follow-up on all investigative leads in this case and remind the public that any information, regardless of how small it may seem, could be the tip that leads to justice on behalf of Scott and the Ratigan family,” the PD said in its new release today.

Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact the Arlington County Police Department Homicide/Robbery Unit at 703-228-4180 or [email protected].
