Anne Holton continues small business listening tour in Louisa

Anne Holton campaigned on behalf of her husband, U.S. Senate candidate Tim Kaine, in Louisa as part of her “Small Business Listening Tour.”

Holton began the day with a tour of downtown Louisa, making stops at Smokin’ Eddie’s BBQ, Fabric Hut & Gift Gallery, and Bailey’s Drug Store. Later, Holton met with small business owners and community leaders at Floozies Pie Shop, where she shared Kaine’s strategies to strengthen the economy, develop a talented workforce, and create jobs.

“Tim has brought people together to focus on achieving results throughout his years in public service,” Holton told the crowd. “During his time as governor, he worked with members of both parties to strengthen the economy and make important investments in education and infrastructure. Tim’s fiscal responsibility and commitment to Virginia’s workforce helped the Commonwealth earn recognition as Forbes’ ‘Best State for Business’ all four years of his term.”

Throughout the day, Holton highlighted Kaine’s balanced approach to the budget and strong fiscal record. As governor, Kaine put partisanship aside to make $5 billion in necessary spending cuts, while making important progress in key areas like education, health care, and public transportation. During Kaine’s term, Virginia maintained its Triple A bond rating and expanded pre-K by 40 percent.

“Tim served as governor during the worst recession since the Great Depression and he had to make tough choices,” said Holton. “But he took a balanced approach of both necessary cuts and strategic investments to strengthen Virginia’s economy and keep the Commonwealth moving forward.”
