AEW ‘All In’ preview: What we see going down in front of 50K fans in London

This Sunday, AEW returns to Wembley Stadium in London for its largest show of the year, “All In.” More than 50,000 tickets have already been distributed for the event, meaning it is currently the fifth highest attended wrestling event of 2024.

Saturday Night “Collision” was taped on Wednesday in Cardiff, Wales, at the Utilita Cardiff Arena immediately after Wednesday Night “Dynamite.” So, we now know who will be the fourth team participating in the “London Ladders” match for the AEW World Trios Championship (spoilers ahead).

While more “Zero Hour” matches could still be announced between now and Sunday afternoon, the main card is set in stone. So, here are my predictions for AEW “All In” 2024.

‘Zero Hour’

Kris Statlander & Stokely Hathaway vs. Willow Nightingale & Tomohiro Ishii

The winner of this tag team match will determine the stipulation for Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale’s singles match at “All Out,” on Sept. 7.

Conventional wisdom would say that Nightingale has the decisive advantage, tagging with Tomohiro Ishii, given Statlander’s partner is her manager, Stokely Hathaway. However, wrestling is anything but conventional. There’s also the fact that, as the current CMLL Women’s World Champion, Willow Nightingale has a standard of practice to uphold.

So, I expect Statlander and Hathaway to employ some underhanded tactics to defeat Nightingale and Ishii; giving Statlander the opportunity to determine the rules of engagement at “All Out.” That way, Nightingale can end this feud by defying the odds at “All Out” in true babyface fashion.

Main Card

FTW Championship: Chris Jericho [c] vs. Hook

This match should be the featured attraction of the “Zero Hour” pre-show. I’m not thrilled to see Fozzy perform live for Chris Jericho’s entrance, even if it marks the return of “Judas.” Does anyone care about the FTW Championship besides Taz and Hook? It’s obvious that Jericho doesn’t.

Earlier this week, Jericho scoffed at the idea of retiring. He cited his six pack, ability to do a moonsault, in-ring acumen, creativity, and love for AEW as reasons why he intends to continue wrestling. Since rebranding himself as the “The Learning Tree,” which is both his epithet and the name of his faction, I’d argue that Jericho has proven many of those facets to be untrue.

Hopefully, Hook defeats Jericho and escapes the “Jericho Vortex.” Then, he can strap the FTW Title around the trunk of the proverbial “Learning Tree” and set it all on fire. This is going to be a sight for sore-eyes.

London Ladder Match for the AEW World Trios Championship: The Patriarchy [c} vs. The House of Black vs. The Bang Bang Gang vs. PAC & The BCC

aew all in This will undoubtedly be a cluster, that I’m sure will be officiated by referee Rick Knox and very loosely follow the rules of six-man tag team wrestling. However, there are some really phenomenal wrestlers participating in this match, like Christian Cage, Malakai Black, Buddy Matthews, Brody King, PAC, and Claudio Castagnoli.

While I’d selfishly love to see the Bang Bang Gang recapture the titles, I think the House of Black will recapture the titles they lost at last year’s “All In.”

Once the Patriarchy loses their titles, I fully expect Killswitch’s long-awaited feud with Christian Cage to commence.

Coffin Match for the TNT Championship: Jack Perry [c] vs. Darby Allin

While I’d love to see Jack Perry be set on fire and tossed in a coffin, I don’t think his reign as TNT Champion ends after only one defense against Marko Stunt. If Perry is going to be taken seriously as a credible heel, then defeating Darby Allin would be a tremendous statement.

For that reason alone, the “Scapegoat” will retain his title.

TBS Women’s Championship: Mercedes Moné [c] vs. Dr. Britt Baker DMD.

The CEO versus the DMD. Between both women’s matches on the main show, this easily has the most star power. Dr. Britt Baker DMD was arguably the most recognizable figure in this women’s division, until the arrival of Mercedes Moné. However, Kamille is the variable that spells doom for Baker.

The bottom line is that Moné just has more to offer this division, right now as the TBS Champion, than Baker. For that reason, I choose Moné.

The real question is, if Jamie Hayter does make her grand return, will it be to aid Baker or at the end of the AEW Women’s World Championship match? More to come later.

American / International Championship: Maxwell Jacob Friedman [c] vs. Will Ospreay

Sometimes, the most obvious finish is the best finish. Wrestling fans live for the rush of endorphins that follows an exciting conclusion. When Will Ospreay defeats Maxwell Jacob Friedman in front of 50,000 fans in London, less than 30 minutes away from his home, it will be a magical moment. Not only for Ospreay, but for all 50,000 fans in attendance, and the tens-of-thousands of fans watching at home.

AEW World Tag Team Championship: The Young Bucks [c] vs. FTR vs. The Acclaimed

This is a toss up. If I had a gun to my head, I could really pick any of these teams. Unfortunately, tag team wrestling has become an afterthought in AEW, since FTR lost the titles to Big Bill & Ricky Starks last year. So, for the sake of the decision, I’d like to see FTR pin either Matt or Nick Jackson to win the AEW World Tag Team Championship.

FTR are the perfect champions to reinvigorate this tag team division.

Casino Gauntlet Match

With only four participants announced thus far (Orange Cassidy, Mark Briscoe, Kyle O’Reilly, and “Hangman” Adam Page), it’s hard to predict who will win the Casino Gauntlet Match and earn a future shot at the AEW World Championship. Former WWE superstar Ricochet has reportedly signed a multi-year deal with AEW, meaning he might be the odds-on-favorite to win the Gauntlet match. However, if I had to throw a wild guess out there, my bet would be the “Switchblade” Jay White, making his triumphant return and earning another shot at the grandest prize in AEW.

AEW Women’s World Championship: Toni Storm [c] vs. Mariah May

“Timeless” Toni Storm and the “Glamour” Mariah May have told the greatest story building towards “All In.” This has easily been one of the greatest angles in AEW history. It’s hard to bet against May though, who has all of the momentum in the world. Her heel turn at the end of the Owen Hart Cup was brilliant and with Moné as the TBS Champion, AEW can afford to have a less proven commodity hold the AEW Women’s World Championship.

Title vs. Career for the AEW World Championship: Swerve Strickland [c] vs. Bryan Danielson

It’s the final countdown. The “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson has one last shot at winning the AEW World Championship. If he loses to Swerve Strickland, he’ll be forced to retire. Does Danielson go out on his shield and lose to Strickland or will he finally win the championship that has eluded him for the past three years? I would wager that it will be the latter, ending the show with 50,000 fans performing the iconic “YES” chant.

Danielson’s days as a full-time wrestler may be numbered, but he has expressed interest in being a part-time wrestler for years to come. I don’t think this is it for the “American Dragon.”

Strickland could very easily regain his title at “WrestleDream” in October — which takes place in his hometown of Tacoma, Washington.
