It appears that adverse weather conditions are possible this weekend in Virginia, and there is also potential for snow next week, according to an AccuWeather senior meteorologist.
“The storms keep on coming,” said Thomas Kines, also the director of forecast scheduling. “Another storm will affect the area this weekend with mostly rain, but there could be freezing rain at the start.”
Precipitation will return on Saturday morning. If the rain arrives early enough in the day, it will likely be cold enough for freezing rain, Kines said.
“Be prepared for icy spots Saturday morning in the Shenandoah Valley and across the northern part of the state,” he said. “Eastern and southern areas shouldn’t have any icy problems.”
There may be a couple of rain showers Saturday night and Sunday morning. However, temperatures will be above freezing so Kines doesn’t expect any ice.
On Sunday, temperatures will be in the 50s for most of the state with a chance of temps in the 60s in the southern part of the state.
But the warmer weather will be short-lived, Kines said.
“Don’t put away the snow shovels. There are potential storms next week and with colder air close by, we might have to deal with snow.”
