uva basketballA floater by London Perrantes cooled off a VCU run, and seventh-ranked UVA took control with a 15-0 scoring spurt over a 5:14 stretch to pull out a 74-57 win at a rabid Siegel Center in Richmond, Va., on Saturday.

The Cavs (9-0) led 38-28 at the half and had the margin around 10 for a long stretch of the second half before a barrage of threes by Rams guard Treveon Graham made things interesting. The third bomb in the stretch cut the Virginia lead to 59-55 with 6:58 to go and had the Siegel Center rocking and rolling.

Perrantes hit his floater from the right of the lane to push the lead back to six, and one possession later found Evan Nolte open for a three from the left win that made it 64-55 Virginia with 4:56 left.,

After a pair of free throws by Anthony Gill gave UVA an 11-point lead, Justin Anderson delivered the dagger, a three from the right wing with four seconds on the shot clock that made it 69-55 UVA with 3:22 to go and initiated the exodus of the home fans.

VCU (5-3) went 0-for-7 from the field during the 15-0 Virginia stretch, with four of the misses from three-point range,.

Virginia went 5-for-5 from the field with three three-pointers in the run, capping a torrid night of shooting from the field.

The Cavs outrebounded the Rams 35-21. VCU forced a season-high 16 UVA turnovers.

Anderson had a game-high 21 points for Virginia on 6-of-7 shooting from the field, 3-of-4 from three-point range and 6-of-6 from the line. Anderson also had eight rebounds.

Gill had 18 points (7-of-9 shooting from the field) and eight boards. Malcolm Brogdon had 15 points (6-of-9 shooting from the field) along with three rebounds and four assists.
