UVa. basketball coach Dave Leitao will be traveling to the Persian Gulf to take part in a USO-sponsored hoops talk with U.S. troops.

“While I am very excited about this trip, I am even more humbled by the opportunity to spend time with the men and women who are protecting our freedom,” Leitao said of the Operation Hoop Talk: Talking with the Troops tour.

“It will be an honor and a privilege to talk with and thank those who put themselves in harms way each day so that we can live free here and abroad. I look forward to this trip as much as anything I have ever done,” Leitao said.

During the tour, Leitao and a group of coaches including Jeff Bzdelik from Colorado, Ed Conroy from The Citadel, Jim Crews from Army and Gary Stewart from UC-Davis will share basketball tips, host clinics and tour military bases in the Persian Gulf region.
