Before doing that, check opinions on stumped.app and stay updated. To analyze the Series, let’s review the principle of the game held. The Ashes consist of five tests. Each test has five days, and cricket games are held daily. Even though the Series is not finished yet and we cannot speak of the winners, the first two tests are over and we can analyze those.
The first test consisted of 5 games between the teams of Australia and England that took place on August 1-5, 2019. The results of the games are the following: Australia has become a winner by 251 runs. There were a few interesting moments that are worth discussing. First of all, Steve Smith, the batsman for the Australian team became the player of the match and managed to score the most runs during the first day.
We should also mention that James Anderson, the bowler for the team of England, had a serious calf injury. Because of it, he will not be participating in the next games of the Ashes Series. The injury happened during the first day of the first test and the doctors report that it would take up to six weeks to heal. As a result, James Anderson was ruled out of the match and he will miss the second test of the Ashes Series. A lot of fans of the English team argue that ruling him out on the first day was one of the reasons why England has lost. It was also reported, that the bowler felt very guilty for missing the future games.
As for the second test that took place on August 14-18, the results have not been made official yet. Nevertheless, as for the scores, England had 258 (77.1 overs) vs. Australia 250 (94.3 overs). The second test did not go without the incidents of the field as well. Steve Smith, who is one of the best batsmen in the world and a player for the Australian team, was ruled out on the fifth day of the second test. It was the result of an injury he suffered during the game on the fourth day.
It was reported that he was hit by Jofra Archer, who made his debut on the Ashes Match Series. After being hit by Archer’s hand, Steve Smith continued playing for the Australian team. However, the Australian batsman was hit again in the head directly by the English bouncer. After the second incident occurred, Steve Smith was forced to leave the game due to the serious injury. Many reported that the batsman seemed fine and managed to leave the field without medical help. Nevertheless, he was still ruled out because of the suspicion of the concussion.
After that happened, Steve was replaced by Marnus Labuschagne by the permission of the International Cricket Council. The latter scored 60 for the Australian team which helped its score stats greatly. The incident was top news in the media for several days. Some were speculating that the pressure put on Steve Smith by the team of England was payback for James Anderson. However, these are rumors and no official statements confirming that were made.
We are still waiting for the official results of the second tests, as well as the three remaining tests of the Ashes Series. Stay with us to see how things develop.
