manhattan film festivalThe Paramount Theater is excited to announce that the 18th annual Manhattan Short Film Festival will be coming to the big screen on Saturday, October 3 at 8 p.m.

The Film Festival is comprised of 10 movies, all less then twenty minutes in length. Audience members will also be allowed to participate in the worldwide vote for the Best Film and Best Actor awards. The Paramount will then submit the ballots to the festival, who will combine all votes and announce a winner in both categories on Monday Oct 5, at 10 a.m. EST. Tickets to this event are on sale now and may be purchased in the Box Office or online.

This year, Manhattan Short received 678 short film entries from 52 countries. The 10 Finalists hail from eight countries, with short films from Turkey and Kosovo representing their respective countries for the first time. “In our 18 years of programming Manhattan Short, this is by far the strongest show we have ever had. From the first scene to the last, these films will command every second of the audience’s attention. It’s anyone’s guess who will win the Gold Medal,” said Founding Director Nicholas Mason.

This year the titles will include: Listen (Finland), Dad in Mum (France), Bear Story (Chile), Forever Over(Germany), SHOK (Kosovo), Grounded (France), Sundown (Turkey), Patch (Switzerland), El Camino Solo(USA), and Bis Gleich (Germany).
