Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance hosts annual Downtown Cleanup Day

dt-harrisonbugHarrisonburg Downtown Renaissance is partnering with the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Department, JMU’s Big Event, local businesses, and volunteers for its annual cleanup day on Saturday, April 11th. Projects will include graffiti removal and maintenance of the planters throughout downtown Harrisonburg.

During the event, ten additional planters will get added to the sidewalks in downtown. The planters were purchased from Harper’s Statuary & Water Gardens, and paid for by a generous donation from Remembering Harrisonburg, a group of local citizens dedicated to preserving the memories of Harrisonburg’s past.

“I look forward to participating in the annual downtown cleanup day,” says Lew Taylor, a representative of Remembering Downtown. “We are glad to support the cleanup efforts by helping add to the color and beauty of downtown.”
