Albemarle County emergency teams pulled a body out of the water at the South Fork Rivanna River Reservoir Monday morning.

The name of the deceased is being withheld at this writing. The body will be transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Richmond for positive identification.

The preliminary investigation does not show signs of foul play, per a release from the Albemarle County Police Department and Albemarle County Fire Rescue.

Crews were dispatched at 9:50 p.m. Sunday night after a concerned citizen reported seeing evidence that an individual may have fallen into the water, according to that report.

Following more than three hours of water operations, crews paused the search around 1 a.m. due to limited visibility in the overnight hours.

The search resumed at daylight on Monday morning.

At 10:30 a.m., search crews located a deceased individual in the water, believed to be the missing individual.
