There will be a day of magic and whimsy at WTA’s Gateway on April 7 when the Easter Bunny joins magician Peter Monticup for two performances. WTA promises an hour of magic and comedy for the whole family. The performances are at 4 pm and 6 pm at 329 West Main in downtown Waynesboro. Reservations are suggested.
Peter Monticup is a professional magician who began his career in magic at the age of seven, when he became an apprentice to Professor Henry Bessette, part of the famous Miracle Team. By age seventeen, Monticup had developed a full stage show, and was the featured act at a number of magic conventions. A few years later, he purchased the House of Magic in upstate New York.
For more than 30 years, he has continued to perform as well as develop his well-known magic business (including MCM Magic Shop, The Old Curiosity Shop, and the Magic Tricks shop in Charlottesville, Virginia). Monticup is also a noted collector of magic memorabilia. He discovered the DeLaMano material in 1986 in an old trunk hidden in a barn. Monticup’s magic shops were designed to look like the shop once owned by Houdini himself. Houdini’s desk, Houdini’s pens and a number of personal Houdini items have been in the Monticup collection.
Before and after the performances, the Easter Bunny will be available for photos. A special treat for children will be given at the end of the performance.
Tickets for Peter Monticup’s performances are $10 for Adults and $5 for Children and are available by calling the box office at 540-943-9999. Available tickets will be at the box office on the night of performance. Seating is limited and reservations are suggested.
WTA’s Gateway is located at 329 West Main in downtown Waynesboro. Opened in August of 2011, the space has gained a reputation as an ideal intimate arena for music. The theatre has food and beverages available for its audience. WTA’s Gateway is the Wayne Theatre Alliance first step towards opening the renovated Wayne Theatre as a performing arts/conference center.
