Cat’s Cradle of the Shenandoah Valley receives $50K in matching funds from anonymous donor

Cat’s Cradle of the Shenandoah ValleyCat’s Cradle of the Shenandoah Valley has received an incredible $50,000 in matching funds from a generous anonymous donor, who is posing a “Summertime Challenge” to the public to raise the same amount.

All donations made during the Summertime Challenge will be matched dollar for dollar up to $50,000, meaning that if the goal is reached, Cat’s Cradle will finish with $100,000 – more than a quarter of its annual budget (87% of which is spent on programs like spay/neuter, medical assistance, and adoption). Cat’s Cradle has been facilitating the transport of large numbers of cats and kittens to shelters in points north in order to minimize the number of healthy, adoptable animals being euthanized, but has not been able to recoup the costs associated with those transports. Therefore, this year they are asking for help filling those vans and covering vetting expenses so they can continue to get cats out of kill shelters and into loving homes.

In addition to regular donations being gratefully accepted, Cat’s Cradle is also considering gifts of over $150 as sponsorships. Sponsorships are divided into four levels of giving with the following opportunities to help cats:

  • $150-250: Va-cat-ioners – Sponsor one (1) cat of their choice.
  • $250-500: Life Savers – Sponsor two (2) cats of their choice.
  • $500-999: Cat Guard – Sponsor to five (5) cats of their choice.
  • $1000+: Fill the Van – Sponsor entire van of cats (~25).

Cat’s Cradle has been a leader in pro-active, targeted spay/neuter since 2005, helping to alter approximately 2,000 cats and kittens each year, including Trap-Neuter-Return for colonies managed by caretakers.  Cat’s Cradle partners with area clinics and veterinarians offering low-cost spay/neuter.
