Poll: Trump maintains big lead in New Hampshire

trumpMore polls have Republican frontrunner Donald Trump trailing in Iowa, but a new Public Policy Polling survey in New Hampshire has the billionaire leading big there.

The PPP poll has Trump up 14 on the field in the Granite State, with 29 percent of the GOP electorate. Marco Rubio is second at 15 percent, with Chris Christie and John Kasich at 11 percent, and Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz at 10 percent.

It’s Cruz that has the lead in an increasing number of Iowa polls, but he’s just tied for fifth in New Hampshire at this stage.

The big mover, downward, was Ben Carson, all the way down at 4 percent,

Of note is that Public Policy Polling asked voters their preferences in a series of hypothetical two-candidate matchups, and the indication in the results is that Trump isn’t as strong as he appears in the deeper pool.

Rubio leads Trump 52-40 in a head-to-head, and Cruz leads the big guy 46-39 in a one-on-one. Even Bush trails by just one, at 46-45.

The suggestion is that as the field narrows, the candidate considered to be most establishment could give Trump, the long-time frontrunner, more than a run for his money.
