The Richard Adams Variety Show Premieres at the Gateway

Contributors

The multi-talented Richard Adams will premiere his unique vision for a wacky, zany variety show at WTA’s Gateway on Friday, September 9 at 7:30.

The Richard Adams Variety Show will feature Barbara Martin as the musician of the month.  Darrel Weaver will represent the local culture with his flatfoot dancing.  The Karaoke Singer of the Month will be Dustin Roadcap and the Beat of the Month will be Chris Wray.

Audience members will have the opportunity to star in the “You Can Be on a Talk Show” and in “You Can Be a Weather Guy”.  Whole new media careers may be opened for the unsuspected.  Also on the program will be a set of special commercials written and performed by Adams.

Richard Adams embarked on a career as a professional musician, composer and producer in 1992 after a career in secondary education.  He tours the Mid-Atlantic as the “I Can Man”, performing anti-bullying assemblies for school children.  Local audiences have enjoyed his work as a composer and playwright in the musicals Shenadoah Moon, Tuesday Mourning, Woody, and Spirit of Augusta.  He and William Hayes and J. T. Fauber are the Boogie Kings, the mainstay of the River City Radio Hour.

Barbara Martin has been called “the real deal.”  A true renaissance woman, she excels in genres prone to stereotypes and pigeon-holes. She lifts her jazz and blues to a new level.  Barbara’s soulful voice and skillful songwriting reveal the essence of her life experience, her creativity and her joie de vivre.

Darrel Weaver is a member of Blue Mountain Sunrise.  The traditional and gospel bluegrass band is known throughout the Valley since its founding in 1979.  Darrel will leave his resophonic guitar at home and put on his dancing shows for his celebrated ‘flatfoot’ shuffle at the Richard Adams Variety Show.

Dustin Roadcap is a talent local actor who was last seen in the Waynesboro’s heralded production of Tuesday Mourning, a retelling of the Bedford Boys and WWII.  Dustin will be the first of the Karaoke Singers of the Month.  At the end of the season, the audience will choose the Karaoke Singer of the Year.  Chris Wray is a member of numerous local bands including Men of Note.  He is also the Radio Hour’s best boy.

Tickets for the Richard Adams Variety Show can be purchased online at waynetheatre.org or at the door.  Admission for the 7:30 performance is $9.99.
