Susan Allen campaigns in Valley

Susan Allen campaigned for her husband, George, the Republican U.S. Senate nominee, in the Shenandoah Valley on Thursday, listening to the voices and stories of hardworking families and local business owners as part of the Virginia Voices initiative to highlight their ideas and solutions for fixing Washington.

Allen began her day in Clarke County, touring local small businesses along Main Street in Berryville as she listened to small business owners and leaders describe their successes and challenges in the current economy under Washington’s failed policies. Her stops included: Blossman Propane Gas and Appliance, Boyd’s Nest Family Restaurant, and Karakul Carpets.

“I’m grateful to Susan for sharing with us George Allen’s vision of a brighter future for Virginia families and small businesses,” said Ellis Chapman, manager of Blossman Gas in Berryville. “It is encouraging to have a leader running for Senate with the will and record of working with all parties to achieve positive solutions. Managing a business is rewarding but challenging with federal regulations complicating the most basic business transactions. November is our opportunity to send George Allen to the U.S. Senate to be our voice for more freedom in our lives and businesses.”

After the Main Street tour in Berryville, Allen met with local families and supporters for a lunch discussion at the historic Battletown Inn, constructed in 1809 by the town’s founder, Benjamin Berry. She expressed her gratitude for the ongoing grassroots support that helps more Virginians’ voices be heard this election.

“As George and I walk down Virginia’s main streets and listen to the voices of hard-working families and small business owners, we are inspired by their stories of challenge and courage while enduring Washington’s burdensome policies,” said Allen. “Virginia small businesses are determined and innovative in making ends meet even as federal regulations make running a business more difficult. George has a positive vision for America’s Comeback and he is running for Senate to be the voice of hard-working Virginians who want more efficient, effective and accountable government.”

In the afternoon, “Valley Women for Allen” will welcome Allen for an afternoon discussion at the home of Teresa and Jim Crawford in Bridgewater. She will then join Congressman Bob Goodlatte at the Virginia Poultry Growers Association’s annual meeting.
