Former C-SPAN producer puts life stories on video

Connie Doebele-1442_pp-EditDuring her 25 year stint with C-SPAN, the nation’s public affairs cable television network, Connie Doebele interviewed former presidents, First Ladies and many other influential and famous people as well as covered news of national and international importance. Her new business, Your Life Story Videos, harnesses all that experience to work for individuals and families that would like to preserve the stories and memories of their loved ones on video. Your Life Stories Videos offers affordable packages for creating a one-of-a-kind production featuring interview clips, photos, music and video of favorite sayings and stories.

Doebele believes that capturing the essence of lives well-lived through a well-told, expertly-edited video is a treasure everyone will want to share with future generations.

While at C-SPAN Doebele was Senior Executive Producer of several of C-SPAN’s signature programs and originating producer of three long-running series “Book TV,” “Washington Journal,” and “America and the Courts.” She moderated thousands of programs, including interviews with former President Jimmy Carter and former First Lady Laura Bush, and was originating producer for much of C-SPAN’s international coverage. Connie has also worked on C-SPAN documentaries about the Library of Congress, the White House, the Supreme Court, and the Blair House.

Years of work in front of and behind the camera make Connie particularly suited for helping clients of Your Life Story Videos capture the most compelling and memorable stories to pass down to their family and friends. An impeccable listener and compassionate interviewer, Connie knows when to gently coax and when to let the story flow freely. In 2005, Doebele interviewed soldiers at Walter Reed Medical Center who had lost limbs during fighting in Iraq. In 2008, she traveled to locations around the country to interview those same soldiers to see how their lives had changed. The result was a weeklong series she produced called “Three Years Later: Conversations with Iraq War Vets.”

Doebele left C-SPAN in 2011 and became President of the This is America! Foundation. Her role in the Foundation is to produce video stories about America that will be housed in the Library of Congress for use by future generations. She recently produced a video for the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum in Staunton, Virginia, where she has chosen to make her home. Born and raised on a farm near Hanover, Kansas, Connie is involved in local historical groups as well as being an active hospice volunteer in the Shenandoah Valley.
