UVa. women’s basketball loses to Tulane in OT

The Virginia women’s basketball team (4-6) fell 79-72 in overtime to Tulane (6-3) in the opening game of the FGCU Hilton Garden Inn/Homewood Suites Classic in Fort Myers, Fla. The Cavaliers trailed by 20 points in the first half, coming back to tie the game with 17:07 left in regulation. After trailing by eight with 6:14 remaining, the Cavaliers again came back, holding a one-point lead, 65-64, with 19 seconds remaining.

Cuccinelli secures $33M for victims of illegal mortgage servicing practices

Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli announced today that his office has secured a projected $33 million in principal reductions and cash payments for Virginia customers of Ocwen Financial for its illegal mortgage servicing practices, including premature and unauthorized foreclosures and the use of false documents and affidavits, including “robo-signing.”

Monthly appointments with pharmacists improve medication adherence

Patients are more likely to take chronic medications when they meet monthly with pharmacists to coordinate medication schedules and treatments, according to a Virginia Commonwealth University study. The study, published in the November/December issue of The Journal of the American Pharmacists Association (JAPhA®), described how patient adherence and persistence with chronic medications can be improved.

Alpha Vision Films documentary to debut on WVPT, RFD-TV

The Alpha Vision Films documentary film “Oyster Preservation on the Great Wicomico” will be featured on WVPT’s “Virginia Farming” this weekend and will also air next week on RFD-TV. The documentary is a sojourn to “river country” in Virginia’s Northern Neck to meet waterman and marine research specialist Malcolm Luebkert.
