The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals declined on Wednesday to issue a stay of its ruling affirming that Virginia’s marriage ban is unconstitutional. Unless the Supreme Court issues its own stay, which it has done in nearly identical pending cases, Virginia’s marriage ban will end on August 20.

The UVA defense finished 2012 ranked fourth in the ACC in total defense, giving up 353.3 yards per game under Jim Reid’s read-and-react scheme. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit today denied a request to delay implementation of its ruling striking down Virginia laws denying marriage to same-sex couples. The court’s action means that, unless the Supreme Court intervenes, couples may begin marrying and having their out-of-state marriages recognized in Virginia on August 18.
