Mike London on the hot seat: Uncertainty impacts UVA football

UVA football coach Mike London is on the hot seat, which is to say, everybody in the locker room is on the hot seat. His assistants have to wonder what their address will be come Dec. 1. Players with eligibility beyond 2014 have to wonder what happens to them if London is let go, and a new staff comes in with a new approach.

UVA defense ready to shine in 2014?

The UVA defense finished 2012 ranked fourth in the ACC in total defense, giving up 353.3 yards per game under Jim Reid’s read-and-react scheme. The 2013 defensive unit regressed under Jon Tenuta, giving up 403.6 yards per game and finishing dead last in the ACC in scoring defense, surrendering 33.2 points per game.

Appeals court refuses to stay marriage decision

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit today denied a request to delay implementation of its ruling striking down Virginia laws denying marriage to same-sex couples. The court’s action means that, unless the Supreme Court intervenes, couples may begin marrying and having their out-of-state marriages recognized in Virginia on August 18.
