The River City Radio Hour begins the new year with a new twist along with its traditional entertainment. Once again The Boogie Kings will delight the audience with the keyboard virtuosity of William Hayes, the percussive wizardry of J. T. Fauber and the genius of Richard Adams.

WTA’s Gateway has arranged for the return of The Richmond Comedians on Saturday, January 26. In celebration of their return the cover charge will be $5 instead of the usual $10. The performance will be emceed by Michal Ketner with Corey Marshall and David Wingfield. The performance begins at 8 pm at 329 West Main in downtown Waynesboro.

Dr. Jim Armstead noted professor of military strategy will present “Strategic Analyses of Civil War” at WTA’s Gateway on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. Dr. Armstead’s presentation will look at the whole of the war, the strategic plans on both sides and address why North won. The presentation has been given round the world to very favorable reviews and is famous for its comprehensive view of the conflict.

I guess the best way to describe the show is to say that it’s a cross between fine entertainment, goofiness and silliness. This month I’m featuring the best pianist i know. William Hayes has been the pianist for the Boogie Kings for twenty-some years. He hails from Danville, and has played for the likes of Jimmy Fortune and Ben “Cooter” Jones. It’ll just be William on the piano playing and singing a few vocals.
