Community Foundation grant fans employees at Vector

CommFoundationDonationVector Industries employees are much cooler these days, thanks to a grant from the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge. The grant paid for a large industrial fan for the Building A warehouse, where about 50 employees work on projects ranging from packaging and warehousing to assembly and quality control.

Dan Layman, the president and CEO of the Community Foundation, toured the Vector Industries facility in Waynesboro on Thursday and saw firsthand the grant money being put to good use.

“Vector Industries is as good of an idea for our community today as it was when it was founded in 1969,” Layman said. “It provides individuals with various disabilities the opportunity to earn a living, which supports their financial stability and self-esteem. The employees of Vector are inspirational. They have an amazing work ethic, manage complex tasks, and display a level of comradeship that any employer would envy.

“Vector also offers valuable services to area businesses, which keeps resources and jobs in our community.  The Community Foundation is proud of its investment in Vector Industries,” Layman said.

Vector Industries President Kent Iberg said the fan purchased with the grant is important to the nonprofit and “goes a long way to ensuring that our employees are comfortable.”

“Vector Industries has experienced growth in the work it does for the local manufacturing community. We are currently doing an assortment of tasks and are utilizing this warehouse to capacity,” Iberg said. “Our employees are so grateful to the Community Foundation for this fan and for the support it has shown Vector over the years towards improving the workplace environment.”
