Michael Vick, noted dogkiller, who the NFL paid the Humane Society to whitewash his crimes so that he could return to the field, and is now the coach at Norfolk State, where he’s doing a solid (/s) job, credit to the guy, he still has his defenders.
Here’s a sampling of the hate mail that came in related to my article on Thursday on how UVA Football coach Tony Elliott joined in the whitewashing of the Vick legacy.

For that matter, I’ll help you dig.
Warning: I am the absolutely most boring person to conduct any kind of personal excavation on.
Not humble bragging there.
It’s hard to do too much exciting when you haven’t had a day off work since 2014.
(I wish I was making that up.)
Ken Tuck: “Yes, Vick did wrong, but everyone deserves a second chance. He was able to take his and make something out of it. I hope if you ever do something wrong that you are given a second chance and not treated as you believe Michael Vick should be treated.”
“Everyone deserves a second chance,” huh.
Hard disagree there.
When we screw up, have to earn a second chance.
And you don’t earn a second chance having somebody pay people to help the world forget what you did.
Ken Tuck here thinks forgiveness is automatic.
This is the classic mistake that we get from evangelicals, who think they can exploit the world 167 hours of their 168-hour week, as long as they prostrate themselves before a public altar for an hour at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
You want to talk about what’s wrong with the world today, start there.
And just in terms of how I “believe Michael Vick should be treated,” I don’t care how he’s treated, as long as he’s not being feted for being a saint because he gave a couple of paid speeches after getting caught killing dogs.
Susan Eaddy: “Thank you for you chose of this particular article. You are one of the scum of the earth. But it is your job. When there is nothing left to talk about you must always come back to the wrong people do. This doesn’t change the fact that there is good in everyone even you. If we all lived in the past there would be no future. I myself have rescued pit bulls from a fighting ring. But the person’s involved were charged and fined. So much to unpack here, starting with, I’m afraid Ms. Eaddy may have suffered a medical episode as she was trying to write to me.
But, yeah, I’m either a “hater” or a “raciest man.”

Life is too short to waste it hating on convicted dogkillers, but I’m not exactly feeling all that racy these days, either.
The time for me to wear feather boas out to the grocery store has, unfortunately, passed.
Have to admit, though, the idea of caking on the eyeliner like JD Vance does before a TV interview just to see how people at the grocery store react does have appeal.
Saying it loud: I’ll choose “raciest man,” because it sounds like fun.
