VMI football wins Big South finale over Gardner-Webb, 27-9

The VMI Keydets took full advantage of five turnovers and 13 penalties by the Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs, and led wire to wire in a 27-9 Keydet win in Big South football action Saturday afternoon in Lexington. The victory came in VMI’s final Big South football game, prior to next year’s jump to the Southern Conference.

Wal-Mart donates battlefield lands in Orange to state

Wal-Mart has donated to the Commonwealth of Virginia more than 50 acres of land in Orange County associated with the Civil War battle of Chancellorsville and most notably with the battle of the Wilderness. Virginia’s Department of Historic Resources, the agency that will receive and steward the donated land, has worked quietly with Wal-Mart to complete a the donation documents and its acceptance.

Dr. Glenn Brammer, a board-certified cardiologist and electrophysiologist, performed the first atrial flutter ablation at Augusta Health on Oct. 24. Atrial flutter is a condition that affects the rhythm of the heart. When the heart’s electrical system is working normally, the upper and lower chambers of the heart work together to pump blood through the heart.
